Uintah Basin & Yampa Valley B23-7

Image © 1998 by Stan Lytle

Painted by David Barnkow

Painter's note: The Uintah Basin & Yampa Valley Railway chose General Electric as their preferred builder after Fairbanks-Morse quit the locomotive business because the newer FM's had been equipped with GE components. In the 1970's the FM H16-44's used by the UB&YV in switching and branchline duties were worn out. UB&YV decided to purchase B23-7's to suppliment their full roster of 6-axle GE mainline locomotives.
