Central Columbiana & Pennsylvania Paint Scheme ContestHaving difficulty sending e-mail to the site? The Central Columbiana & Pennsylvania needs your help! Formerly known as the Youngstown & Southern, this 35-mile short line runs from a connection with the former Pittsburgh & Lake Erie's Gateway Yard in Youngstown, OH, south to Darlington, OH, and a connection with the former Pennsylvania Railroad. Recently slated for abandonment, the line has been purchased by the Columbiana County Port Authority, and is being leased to the Arkansas-based Dardanelle & Russellville, who will be operating it as the Central Columbiana & Pennsylvania (reporting marks CQPA). The line is currently in the process of rehabilitation, with initial operations planned for May, and full operations planned to start in July. Power will be 4 ex-CN GMD1 locomotives, currently still in CN paint and numbered 1143, 1151, 1155, and 1159. The railroad has not yet decided on a paint scheme, and that's where you come in! This contest was supposed to run until May 1, 2000. However, due to the fact that the site was not updated for an extensive period, no voting took place. All the entries will remain posted. The only requirement put forth by the railroad is that paint scheme suggestions be historically based on railroads that operated in the vicinity of the line. These include the B&O, PRR, NYC, and P&LE. Thanks to Steve Gerbracht, Railpace Magazine's Lake Shore News Columnist for his assistance in setting up this contest and for the background information posted on this page. Browse the entries: |
